Jim Black (drums, composition)
born in California.
While he studied in Boston at the Berklee College of Music he worked together with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Andrew D”Angelo and Chris Speed.
Later he moved to New York and played with many Jazz-Giants like Paul Motion, Charlie Haden,Carla Bley, Uri Caine, Vave Douglas, Ellery Eskelin.
Jim participated as drummer 12 in the Boredoms 77 Boadrum Performance which occurred on July 7, 2007, at the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park in Brooklyn, New York.
He is also one-third of the group BBC (Berne/Black/Cline) along with noted alto saxophonist Tim Berne and Nels Cline of Wilco.
The group released a critically acclaimed album called “The Veil” in 2011.
Although he is very busy as a sideman – he recorded more than 100 CD”s –
he is working on his own projects: Pachora, AlasNo Axis, Jim Black Trio.
